We have finished Week 1 of our Drop Spindle Workshops in Umiujaq, Nunavik (Northern Quebec).
We have been sharing our skills daily with students at the school. As we learn how to comb the “Qiviut” from the Musk Ox hide.
Note: We will not be sharing the faces of people for privacy.
In the evenings, we have been sharing with the talented ladies at the sewing centre.
It has been different trying to teach sitting on the floor, but we have quickly adapted.
Almost everyone has been able to finish a small 2-ply, before moving onto the rest of their wool over the long weekend.
Hoping that we can spin some Qiviut next week and make our projects before we leave in a week.
